Welcome aboard gendoc!! I don't have the Survivor, I had one of the stocks on a 25-06 but don't care for the stock, but I do have the 308 bull barrel in a camo Ultra stock set, it shoots the 168gr TSX match real well with a healthy dose of Varget.  ;)

I love my survivor, hated the stock. I put just a plain jane pallet wood stock on it for now, the thumbhole is on its way  ;D

my gun loves the 150gr core lokts, took a buck this year that was the biggest bodied deer ive ever taken, and it knocked him end over end on a  running shot.  It puts the bullet where it needs to be.

My cousin used this same gun this weekend to take a doe at 300-315yds (he's 6-7, so his strides are a bit longer than mine  :D), dropped about 10ft from where he was hit.

It may just be my new favorite rifle. Until I finally get my 30-30.

good luck, I really think you will like it, the stock can always be swapped out.

Dave.

I don't have the survivor, but I've got an ultra-hunter in .308.  I took a very big bodied New Mexico Mule deer this past Sunday morning. Bang...done deal.

I have a Survivor in 410/45lc and I think I should have gone for a 308.  Not too late to get both.  Anyway, I like the stock.  Ugly but easy to carry.  I keep a first aid kit inside and have a pouch on the outside for shells and bullets.  I found an SKS sling for it.  The leather tabs work well with the narrow sling mounts and anything SKS is affordable.  Buy it and you won't be dissapointed.
