Lucky 243
« on: November 11, 2008, 04:35:07 PM »
I've tried to post this twice, can't get the photo to work.  Maybe this time....

After all the posts I've read of the 243 having accuracy problems, I feel very lucky.  My rifle shoots very well.  I've also been told that the round is too light for white tail.  Just downed the second and third this week, one of which was in a full run.  All were bang flop kills.  I really am getting to like this little Handi gun!

Way to go Ben!! ;)

You'd better sell that 243 before all the luck gets shot out of it!!!  ;D

Maybe the accuracy is a bit luck, but I say .243 is an excellent deer cartrige.  My .243 (not a handi) has downed several white tail in the short time i've had it.

Good job!!

I think I have four with mine now...only the first required a second shot and that was MY fault not the calibers!! Now get out and start cutting them up for the freezer!!  ;) ;)

Ben, my Grandson's 243 (used to be mine) has taken a lot of mule deer with a Hornady 87 gr spire point and 40 gr of IMR 4350.  That round wouldn't be my first choice for elk but never let anyone tell you that it won't kill one of those either.

I don't have a handi in .243, but I do have a Winchester model 70 in .243 WSSM.  Took my deer with it this year.  One shot behind the shoulder with a 100gr Nosler Partition.  Dropped like a rock.  Thats 2 for 2 now.  Gotta love that .243.
