Anybody ever use Estate brand slugs?

It is my understanding that Estate is now owned by Federal, but are the slugs the same? Has anyone ever tried them? I can get them very cheap(about $3 a box of 5), but I wonder if I would be better off going with Rem sluggers if they are too cheap. Thanks for the info, Billy

  I ran across them on the web the other day. I am interrested in how they shoot. I am looking for them localy. Buy them and give them a try, inquiring minds want to know.

They sell mostly to law enforcement and military, we get the 12 guage 00 buckshot for our ammo in the military all the time, comes packed in 50 caliber ammo cans with 120 rounds each in them.  The ammo is as good as the winchester branded ammo and better than the federal.  I have had limited use of the estate slugs, just a few cans, it seemed to work just fine for our training use.  For deployement we only use copper solids from remington, but there is a reason for that, the copper solid is the only 12 guage ammo that we have tested that will shot clear through an outboard motor or an engine block.

OK, to bring back an old thread, it was finally not too cold for me to be comfortable shooting today, so I tried the Estate brand slugs($3.79/5), against some Federal slugs I got at Wal-Mart yesterday(7.99/10). Except for the color of the hull, they look identical. They were both shooting the same point of impact, and while I do not have a chrony here, they felt pretty much the same when firing. So I have pretty much come to the conclusion that they are the same except for the color of the hulls. I was shooting them in a Tracker 2 barrel at 50 yds today, and while not spectacular, I could keep them inside of 3" off of some shooting sticks pretty easily. i even shot some mixed groups with some from each brand, still 3" or less. I don't plan on using this gun past 80 yds or so, so I feel pretty comfortable with either of them. For the price, they are hard to beat. A little more tinkering, and a solid bench, and I could probably shrink that easily. Now to rest my shoulder for the evening, 40 rounds of slugs is more than I care to do again. Thanks, Billy

Are these rifled slugs or saboted slugs??  $7.99/bx for saboted slugs is an excellent price!!

No, they are rifled slugs. I just can't bring myself to spend what they want for sabot slugs. If I have to resort to spending the $15 for box of 5 that the sabots are priced at around here, I will probably just sell the barrel. I am happy with $4/5 pnce, once it gets to over $10/5, I am done. Have you tried the Brenneke slugs or Win Partition Gold?
