Looking for guidance

No time to cast, will be buying. I'm not looking for load info; but, bullet guidance would help. I shoot a Contender in 32 H&R Mag 10" barrel. Had great success with Hornady XTP 85 gr. Also shoot a Marlin 25-20 using Rem 86 gr and have purchased a Ruger Bisely Hunter. If I can avoid starting with the wrong bullets and reinventing the wheel from scratch, it would be great. My barrels slug at or very close to production cast bullet standards: .312 for the 32 mag, .429 on the .44 and .257 on the 25.20. Also will eventually try with a Marlin 30-30 micro groove. All shoot jacketed well.

Ordered Veral's book, I guess I'm new meat hoping this will not be overwhelming. I also know I have a lot of work and testing to do. Would just like to start in the right ball park.

I understand you have no time to cast and plan to buy. Ordering Veral's book will make you a savvy buyer whoever you choose to buy from. Even if the bullets are of good quality, they will do you no good if not suitable for the intended purpose, do not properly fit your gun, etc. Veral's book will take you through all of this.

  Chucky's advise is good.  I reccomend that you contact Montana Bullet Works, as they have a big selection of LBT molds and use LBT bullet lubricant.

Sort of defeats the purpose. Cast lead is normally cheaper than jacketed, except at MBW. It may be great stuff; but, I got nothing to prove. I just want to shoot affordably and accurately. Proving I can master cast bullets means nothing to me.

Yeah, you're right....stick with jacketed Chucky.  You're not ready to committ to what it takes to put them all in one hole.  I never knew what I was missing.

Well, it's like this: I don't feel arrogant about a difference in the metals on my bullets. I don't shoot holes, I shoot NRA silhouettes, Master class. I have two boys in college. Guess I am arrogant about my dollars; but, don't take that personally.Maybe arrogance isn't a good word; perhaps it's pride. Guess I just didn't care for the tone. I would invite you to step up to MASTER class with whatever bullet you like.

  I think the point was throwed at you the wrong way.  The real point is, learning how to make cast perform equal to jacketed takes most shooters a while, and trying to make cheap commercial cast perform is impossible regardless of how much knowledge the shooter has about cast.  With the toughness of jacketed, things are more forgiving and good loads easier to obtain.

Veral, Thanks. I do shoot silhouettes with a number of shooters using meister bullets competitively. I do not have the time to cast. I must purchase an affordable bullet and spend my time reloading and shooting. If that bullet is jacketed, so be it.
