Good job Sneaky...Nice buck!  A lot of satisfaction in taking a trophy animal with a handgun.

Nice shooting. Have you thought about sending a picture to Hornady? They would be interested seeing how their new loading performed on game. Did you recover the bullet?

Congratulations from a fellow NY'er!  Very nice Buck! I was wondering lately how the new Hornady ammo would perform out of a 44 mag handgun. I haven't seen much written about it. Nothing like practical in the field experience. How did the ammo shoot off the bench? Group size?

First the mount was made by weigland combat,i bought it i say ten years ago when i bought the revolver,i dont think they make the one piece mount and rings anymore.I used to always shoot 300 grain cast bullets(federal cast cores) too much for deer,i tried the hornady and there great i honestly get two inch groups at 100 yards with them off a rest of course.Exit  hole was around the size of a quarter, completly destroyed the heart,i will use these all the time for whitetails.Recoil is way less than the cast cores.for black bear though i will stick with the heavy cast bullets.thanks guys.

I see in the first pic he is still tied to the tree, guess that makes things easier.  Just kidding.  That is a great deer.  What weight bullet are you using?  I saw the leverevolution in a 225gr. loading, didn't know if anyone was using it yet.  Congratulations on a trophy.  Was the entrance hole under your pistol in the second pic?

Sneeky,
Looks like the buck of a lifetime Congrats.
Do you load your own 44 mag. ammo? If you do could you tell me the load data for your load. I was thinking of using the leverevolution bullets also I am using 240 gr. xtp now.

Sneakyhunter,

That is a nice deer. I have never hunted deer with a handgun although I have taken a lot of small game with a K-22.  I plan to take my Ruger Bisley .45 Colt and iron sights next year. Rifle hunting doesn't seem to offer much of a challenge anymore. The 265 Cast Performance WFNGC and Montana 270 SAA both do very well with 20 grains of IMR 4227. Thanks for posting the photos.
