Here is a little "freezer buck" I killed with my Remington 760 in 30-06.

Each year I start off trying to decide which gun to take to the stand and try as I may I usually end up with my 45/70 Marlin 1895.  This year I wanted to use my Handi rifle in the same caliber or my 44 mag Deerfield or the Stevens in .308.  I took all these to the range and while each shot creditably the old Marlin still would put two 300 Rem HP in the same hole at 50 yards.  As I hunt wooded areas most shots are at that range.  Short story is the Marlin went with me again and again did not disappoint even though I made a less than great shot.  As we are moving this year I was not able to use one of my 'lesser' guns to shoot a second deer.  The good news is that we bought a place that I can probably sit on my back porch and shoot a deer next year. ::)

Got mine with my old T/C Contender G-2, with a new 6.8 Remington SPC barrel.  Used 110 grain Hornady V-Max and at a little over 100 yards, it was a bang flop.  Great little gun, even greater round.  No recoil, but lots of knock down power.

Navistar, Prostar with MaxxForce 13 power. Yessir 76000 lbs into a 90 pound fawn Dead Right There. Too much damaged meat though, I'm gonna try to get one with the bow. Fortunately I did $0 damage, the bull bar did its job perfectly.

Kept trying to "harvest" a deer.  Found out quickly that deer, just like our hogs, are easier to harvest if you kill them first.  So, I "killed" my first buck this year with my Remington 760 pump in 30-06.  I built the shells using 165gr Sierra GameKing hollow point boattails over 47 grains of 4064 powder.

Tried to soften the images of the "HORROR" of hunting, by using the word "harvest" when taking new hunters.  When they approached the fallen deer, it suddenly dawned on them that the deer was DEAD!!  They were outraged that they had actually "killed" a deer and, accused me of deceiving them.  They begged me not to tell George Soros and, made me swear on their well-worn copy of the "Communist Manifesto" or, was it "Al Gore's Book of Poetry" I can't remember.

My second buck peeked out of a thicket at a measured 305 yards.  I used my homemade shooting sticks.  The Savage Weather Warrior in .270wsm with the amazing Accutrigger performed flawlessly.  The 140gr Sierra GameKing hollow-point boattail broke the near-side shoulder, destroyed the heart and, broke the off-side shoulder before exiting.  He never took a step.  He was dead and, it was me who "killed" him.

Nothing really big this year, but the freezer is filling up.

first deer of this year was shot with CVA Buckhorn .50, loaded with a 240gr XTP on top of 90gr loose Pyrodex RS. Hit her in the neck, instant drop and a few kicks.

I killed three bucks and another doe with my Marlin 336 in 30-30, topped with a Nikon 2-7x32mm. All where hit in/around front shoulder; two heart shots. Two ran about 30-40 paces, one about 10 paces, one fell straight down. The first two hit with Federal 150s, the latter two with Winchester PowerPoints 150s, which seem to open a little harder/sooner (big entrance wounds). All deer between twenty and seventy yards.

one more to go!

I had to use a ball peen hamer propelled by my lever action left arm with 20/20 corrective lenses because the whole state of california has no ammo! >:(... None that I could find for any gun I had to use anyway!

Last time I shot a deer, It was with a pistol grip sawed off 20 gauge W/ no sights throwing a slug at
1200 fps or somthing like that, right through one side of the throat & out the other, somehow missing the neck!
Sack A potatoes my friend... sack A potatoes!
In Its tracks, on the shore in the exact place where I fish!  ;D doesnt get any better than that as far as memories of a first deer every time I fish there.

My last deer was taken with a 270, pushing a 130 gr. Nosler solid base soft point pushed to just under 3000 fps. He was going away and I hit him just in front of the left hindquarter and it exited just behind the right shoulder. He ran 30 yards and fell over.
