2 does so far, one taken with a 7x57 pushing 140 grain Partitions and the other taken with a 444 Marlin and 240 grain Hornady XTP's.  Both shots around 80 yards, one dropped the other required some tracking.

In the early October season here in Wisconsin, I shot a button buck at 70 yards with my Marlin lever action model 336, 35 Rem caliber, shooting my 158gr Horn JHP handloads. Did not get a shot in the regular 9 day season BUT another short 4 day season starts this week on Dec 11th thru the 14th. I will be out there !! Love that Marlin.........

I shot a spike whitetail at 100 yds with a win 70 7mm rem mag. Load was 160 nosler partition over Rl 25. Lots of blood from the exit.  Didn't need the blood trail, but would have been nice if the buck ran into the swamp.

This year I was fortunate to secure a bit of private property to hunt.  I set up a ladder stand in a wooded 4-5 acre plot surrounded by fields.  Weather was decent for most of the two week season.

1st:  Doe.  Approx 125 yds.  Mossberg ATR .30-06 Federal Power Shok 180's.  Two steps then dropped.
2nd:  Doe.  Approx 70 yds.  Stevens 200 7MM-08 Remington Core Loct 140's.  Dropped on the spot.
3rd: Doe.  Approx 50 yds.  Savage 110E .270 Federal Power Shok 130's.  Ran approx 20 yards then dropped.

Two-day January Hunt, 9th-10th.  Last opportunity to rifle hunt in Maryland for 2008-2009 season:

4th:  Doe.  Approx 60 yds.  Stevens 200 .308 Federal Power Shok 150's.  Ran approx 20 yards then dropped.  No Picture.

for # 4 I used my ruger 30-06 and the berger 168 grain VLD bullets.  They started marketing them as good for hunting a couple of years ago and I wanted to see how they would work.  I shot a nice sized doe broadside @ 210 yards.  It broke the near shoulder, shredded the lungs with a thumb sized exit in the far side hide, the far side rib cage had a fist sized hole.  At the shot the deer jumped, ran and in 4-5 strides fell, got up and tried to run again but fell.  She left a very heavy blood trail.

I do not think they would be good for a quartering away shot as they seem to come apart pretty quick.

They sure worked on that white tail with a broadside shot.

In my rifle they are not any more accurate then say a SST or ballistic tip so I doubt I will buy any more.

Ultra Slug Hunter, 12ga, Sightron II.  Barnes Tipped Expander 2 3/4in, 3/4oz, 85 yards, quartered away (allot), went about 20 yards, slug caught just under the hide inside the right front shoulder. In the picture you can see the dark spot where the slug lodged.  Excellent performance on the way through!

Skinned and recovered the bullet so here are the pictures.

This was the first deer I have taken with Barnes Expanders in any firearm so I did not know what to expect.  Normally I would consider a bullet that did not pass through questionable but due to shot placement and the amount of expansion I think this one is an exception.  He was quartered away (allot), entered back of the center of the ribs (Not gut shot) traveled through the vitals back to front and stuck just under the hide in the inside edge of the right front shoulder.  I was lucky in that the path could not have been any better at this angle.  As stated above very good performance, nothing left of lungs or heart.

and here are the pics, I for one was impressed.

'twas a family effort, button buck approx 50 yards with a much downloaded 30-06 using a 150 gr Sierra RN. Not a good hit, bullet entered forward of front leg, broke brisket and cut artery and demolished off side leg.
Needed some tracking, which the hound did in just about total darkness, we had wimpy flashlights :-(
This hound had never smelled a deer before but knew the words " Find Bambi"  , We would not have been able to recover that deer until the next morning if the coyotes would not have beaten us to it. The hound got fresh raw liver that night and she approved ;D

Today Omega with a 250 grain Hornady XTP, MMP black sabot. Tracked it for a mile until i lost the trail and daylight. I am hopeing to get back out for it after Christmas. January late season i will use a 30-06 165 grain spbt Hornady.

Hit my second doe at about 35 yards with same above. Went 50 yards and fell over, excellent blood trail. The hollow point blew a golf ball size hole going in and half that size going out. Ribs were not recoverable!

Late season 2 days ago with my 30-06, dropped in its tracks shot through the spine. Lost a lot of backstrap on both sides. No more spine shots for me I love my backstraps!

I got two deer so fare.  Still muzzloader happening between December 27-30 in Ohio.

My first deer I got with my Fred bear TRX at 30 yards.  My first I got with a bow ever  in deer hunting.  Second deer I used my open sighted Mossberg 535 shotgun with basic slugs.  It was a doe, I shot at this deer six times.  When I examined where I hit the doe, it had about a three inch hole in it.  So fare that What I got.

Hope this helps

oops slacking, I misread and thought it said first deer. This year's buck was an 8 point bruiser ( had to dress over 200, we weighed 169 hanging with no hide, head, or legs) . Shot at 20 yds with a Remington 7600 pump chambered in 30/06 with 150 grain Hornady bullets.

Deer 3 and 4, #3 was killed with a 30-06 and the 165 gr. Sierra BTHP, this doe dropped at spot as the spine was severed behind the shoulder blade, 4 inch exit hole. #4, a 9 point buck weighing close to 180 pounds was hit angling away with a 150 grain Remington factory load from a 30-06 which broke 2 ribs going in and came to rest 22 inches later under the hide after going thru the far shoulder blade in front of where the bone is attached to it. This deer also dropped at the shot.
