help out a member / he has the gun and posted pictures
« on: November 17, 2008, 04:59:00 PM »
august 22  1986
was  the day  a young man sold me  his 20 gage shot gun
he  was  young  and dumb like most of us were at that  age
that shot gun was given to him by  his father
as  time went by his   other guns were stolen and  his father  has  passed
financial problems  have taken  his guns  this  time

now  this young  man  is  one of the old  farts  on GBO [oh  yes  no name calling]
i  still have  that shot gun  in my inventory
and  i  want to down size before the Obamanation
i know the gun  has  little monetary value  but  it  would  mean  more to this man than  an  AR would  mean to  you
i  thought  about  asking donations and  shipping  it  out once  i got enough
but decided  to ship  it  out as  soon as  i get  an  FFL to ship  it  to
even   if i don't get  any thing  out of  it  it  is going  out to  its   long lost owner
some  guns  are  more than  wood and steel  or  a political football
some guns don't have monetary value compared to  there worth

but  i will  accept donations
and any one that donates i will  handle a few Florida transactions for free

he  does  not know  i    am doing  this  but  i am sure  he will  read it soon  enough
don't  ask  but i  am  sure he will  post  or ask me to take it down
maybe  you can ask  him to  PM  you

Thanks Tim. I don't know what to say. :'( I will have to check on a FFL up here. Thanks again. Like you that was the first gun I ever owned and my father gave it to me for Christmas when I was 12 years old. When I was 18 I had my place broken into and had my 22 Marlin and my 30-30 Marlin stolen. I sure miss them also. I wish I knew the jerk that ended up with them. Dale

glad  you posted  i  didn't want to mention any  names  since  you  didn't know i was  going to  do  this

lets try to get  it back before  this Christmas

i  will  dig  it up and give  it a good cleaning for  you

i  ran a box of shells  through   it it  patterns good

get  you some slugs  you will have a deer  gun

i am  sure most  people  have a gun  like  this they wish  they could get back

i  hope  this gun will  replace  your 243  in  your picture  there  but  that  is  your call

and  if  you ever let  it  get  away  from  you , you should be banned  forever

Tim do you know if that is a Sears model 200? Is that the one that is the same as the Winchester model 1200? I am trying to find out some information on it. I was wondering if I could buy a rifled Winchester barrel for it for deer? Thanks Dale

I'm sorry if I seem just plain dumb here, but let me get this correct. 45-70 has Dale's old shotgun and wants to give it back to Dale.

I guess I'm not clear on why the donations are needed? For the shipping costs?

WOW! This is one of the coolest things ever. PM me with your address and I'll send ya a buck or 2 for shipping. Or if you can ship it US mail I'll send ya some stamps.

Yes he is. We lost touch for maybe 15 years but when we started talking it was like we were never out of touch. We have been talking for some time about me paying him back for the shotgun so I could get it back. He knows I have been really strapped for cash and that is why he brought it up here. I don't even own a gun right now and would be happy to get my first one back. Yes he is a good friend. Dale

I think he was hoping to recover a little of money that I owe him for the gun and I don't blame him. I do owe it to him but just can't afford to send him anything on it right now. Dale

I two lost two different very close friends. One when we were in the 9th grade when he quit school, lied about his age and joined the navy-13 years but we are together almost weekly now.
He is my main hunting partner.
The other I was with every day for 11 years.
He was my best man at our wedding and I never laid eyes on him again for 9 years then we found each other again but only see each other seldom and for that I am trully sorry!
NEVER LOSE TOUCH WITH YOUR FRIENDS!

Thanks Billy. I would like to have this gun back. I have really had a bad 10 months or so. When things were to sopposed pick up for me in the spring and summer they did not. I have had the worst 12 months of work since I have been working. On the bright side of things I went back to work ( today ) for a guy I worked for many years. He pretty much called me an ass for not calling sooner. He says he has all kinds of work and we are good till spring on inside work. I have not brought home a regular pay check for a long time. I am going to have to eat some crow but I think my daughter might just have a Christmas after all. Dale

Tim sent me his info and a check will go out tomorrow.
It ain't much.

I can relate to you about the non paycheck.

I own my own business which is selling and servicing livestock trailers.
Two years ago I did over $1,000,000.00 gross average for the last three years.
Last year was bad at just over $200,000.00.
This year is under $100,000.00.
I pay $3200.00 a year for a business license, $8,000 a year for business liability insurance, $1,691.00 a month for my hospital insurance, $2,200.00 a year personal property tax on my vehicles, my farm use tax is $2,100.00 a year just because it is surrounded by subdivisions, my personal property insurance is $3,200.00 a year.
Add to that an electric bill of about $325.00 a month, and a phone bill of $105.00 a month and food averages about $150.00 a week.
Yes two young boys is sports that like to eat!!!
Plus what ever else there is and guess what?
THERE AIN'T MUCH LEFT!!!!!

Then there is my costs, you know, a barrel here a gun there some more ammo, and now the man says he is going after the rich for, YOU GUESSED-IT MORE TAXES!

Of course I don't have to tell any of you about this, you ALL know it.
Yes it could be worse.  :-\

Any way, here's to every one,
I wish you love and health
safety and wealth
from now till the end
for you and your friends!

DALE: enjoy your old friend when it gets back to you.

i  think  people  would  be more charitable  if taxes  weren't so  high

most  of  us  don't  know  each  other  here  but  still  feel  much  comradery

but  when the  government  takes  my  money  and  feeds and houses

and  instill a sense of government dependency for  people  i  don't  like

i  get  discusted  and  want  to  horde  whats  left

but  this  seemed  like a good  time to get  over it

when i was  8  i  shot  my  dads 45 acp the  first  time
i  remember him pulling it on a  man when  i was  about 6  [i didn't understand what the man said to  my  mom]
when i  was  16  he  was  broke  and  ask  what  i  wanted  for Christmas
he  said  i  was  too  young,  i  told  hin  thats  all  i  wanted  [i    new  he tryed  to pawn  it]
i  got  it  for Christmas
i  still have  it  and his  bill  of  sale  for  $17 yes seventeen dollars
it  is  green  and a remington
but  it  is  priceless  to  me now  and kept   hidden  and  under  lock
THIS  IS MY  MOST VALUEABLE GUN
but  i  do still  take it to the  range  when  i gat the  urge
when drugs are outlawed only out laws will have drugs

Tim even teased me tonight on the phone by cycling the action a few times.

LOL:
Man , what a way to treat a friend!  :D
Next he will say he doesn't have time to take it down to the gun shop to have it shipped!!!  ;) :D ;D

Yea Tim times are tight and I feel the same as you about things but like I said that is what life is all about FRIENDS!

There was a time when I wouldn't have give two cents about other peoples troubles but now, I don't know what changed me.
I must be getting old or something.
Who knows maybe some day I may need a helping hand in life or at least when my time comes to stand in front of the man up stairs he will open his big book and say well, he did do somethings right while he was down there.

first  donation came  in
anonymous  from  Mn

thank  you  i  think  i will  figure  him  out  so  i can  give dale  a list  of  who donated

the  list  will  have  no $  because  one  dollar  may  mean  more  to  some  than $20  does to another

didn't recognise  your  last name on the envelope

usually a fund  raiser  involves a 3rd party  because  with  out  them and  the thing  won't  happen

the  one  in  need  won't get  it  till  the one  in posseion  gets  their  money

i  really  felt  odd  asking  for  donations  like  this,  so  any  donations are  extraordinary

next  time  you  tip  a stranger  for  walking  across  the room with  your plate  of  food
think  about  your  friends  here  on  GBO

Slim I have been doing little things here and there for sometime. It just was not enough. I just went back to work last week for a guy I worked for many years ago. I worked for him for almost 10 years. Looks like my daughter is going to have a Christmas after all. Dale
