Surgery results
« on: November 17, 2008, 05:12:48 PM »
Well I am typing one handed. More was wrong than suspected. Doc removed one inch of my lft collar bone, repaired a torn rotator cuff, and removed the bursa. They did a nerve block of my left arm, my fingers, and hand are numb so it is like my left arm is paralized right now.

I just took the first oxicodone, because pain is hitting me now, but also have bag of ice on my shoulder.

Just wanted to let all of you know.

Douglas has the helm.

If you are up an typing that's a good thing.  If you left me in charge that is an obvious sign the drugs have impaired your Judgement.  Sometimes drugs can be good. Tonight, for you is one of those times.

Have had rotator surgery on both sides.  First was invasive surgery for a full thickness tear.  Second was a few years later and again to repair a full thickness tear.  The second surgery was othroscopic.

You never recover.  Mine still hurt every day.

When my doctor and I were talking about recovery percentages, he did say at my age 52 if I say recover to 75% of what I was, that this would be a home run.  After my PT is over, and my doctor finally puts me at MMI (Maximum Medical Improvement) then I will have an assessment done for an imparement rating and work assessment of what I can do for retraining.

At least I know if I have re-occuring problems with my left shoulder, that is covered medically by my WC carrier.
