who would be interested in pirate hunting?
« on: November 19, 2008, 04:13:59 AM »
here is an idea... with all the stories of the pirates raiding ships off of somolia, and all the money they are making....why not have armed security crews on those ships.  a force of ten properly trained guys armed with the right stuff (a few 50 bmg sniper with night vision and heat signature sights, or even a few mini guns along with other small arms) should be able to stop attempts at hijacking a given ship.  with cargos worth 100 million dollars, what would 500,000 for a well armed security force be?  seems like cheap insurance to me.

anyone here, other than me, care to go pirate hunting?  ;D

India and the UK have navy frigates and  destroyers accompanying their own country's cargo ships through the Gulf of Aden, and its not stopping the pirates.  If they have been engaging navy destroyers, how would a 50cal rifle hold them off?

I wonder if the arabs allowed the location of their ship to leak so the pirate incident could occur and then they could use it as an excuse to jack up gas prices again.  If there is a spill the prices could skyrocket again like the exon valdez thing.  Too bad the eyeranians don't seek retribution against their somali muslim "brothers" for grabbing that other ship.  A few cruise missiles from eyeran hitting the pirate towns on the somali coast would be a big favor to humanity.

Let 'em stew in their own juice.  Seems as if the involved parties (pirates and their prey) deserve each other.

WHY  AREN'T  THESE  SHIPS  ARMED!!??

Geneva Convention

explain  the geneva convention

our  2nd  amendmend  doesn't  apply  as part of  our  constitution
but  our  constitution  DOES  state  that  is   a right  in  born  in all  men  endowed  by  their creator    etc.ect
SO  THE GENEVA CONVENTION  VIOLATES  THE SEAMANS CIVIL  RIGHTS
and  don't  we  up  hold  civil rights violations

and  how  do  they define  armed  ect
i  will not go  on a  boat  unarmed  [but  i am  not comercial]

lets say you are trying to get on the ship i am on.  lets say you are using speedboats on the high seas to try to pull said attempt off.  lets say you are armed with ak 47's and rpg's.   let's say that with my mini gun or 50 cal that i can smoke your arse 4 times as far off as you can shoot.  and lets say that i dont have to do much except put a hole in your boat and leave you to swim.  it is pretty hard to board a ship when you cant get with a half mile of it.
they say that it is such a huge area they cant have armed ships patrol it all.  so why not put armed security on each ship?

it seems to me a fellow could make quite a bit of money pulling security; like i said, 100 million in cargo, what is another 500,000 to secure it?
a few floats and a fellow should be set.  and, if you get to engage, you get to smoke some pirates.  my guess is the second they realize their 'soft' target is actually hard, they will haul pick an easier target.   like i said, they would have one hell of a gauntlet to run to even get in range of their weapons.    and, i wouldnt restrict myself to just a sniper 50, i wouldnt be against dusting off 'old painless'.
what is better than smoking a bunch of pirates?   smoking a bunch of somolian pirates.  did i forget to mention that i hate skinnies?   it is almost like i am looking for an excuse, isnt it?   ;D

my  sources [television]  tell  me  there  are  mercinary  escorts  for  hire

the  UN  and  people  that  care [want power]  are  doing  what  ever  to  stop  this

but  i  think  just  a  few  barrets  or  even  1/2 dozen  single shots  in  bmg  would go  a long way

not  to  mention  some  full auto stuff

If I was 20 years younger with no wife and young child to be concerned about it sounds like it would be a cool gig.

I had a buddy who joined the Coast Guard right out of High School, he used to tell us lots of stories about smoking drug runners and smugglers of the southern coast of the US.  When they came upon a suspect vesel they would hail them telling them to stop and prepare to be boarded for inspection.  If they ran they would fire a couple warning shots from the bow mounted gun over them and would order them to stop again.  If they continued to run they would tear into them until they surrendered or sank.  I always though man that must be a great job.  ;D  Of course then he would tell us about pulling duty in the North Sea in February.  :(

They aint gonna have anything that produces a spark on an oil tanker. Oil tankers are constantly venting natural gas which seeps from the oil. Water cannons are one of the few defences and shear size.

i got the wife and kids,  but if i could get hired, she would have to deal with it.  i would imagine there would be hell to pay, until a guy came home with the first paycheck, that is.    as much as she likes to shoot,  she would most likely want to leave me at home while she went pirate hunting.   we it sounds like we have a couple of people ready to sign on.... now all we need to do is get hired.... :D   seriously,  if i could get hired doing it, my butt would do it in a heartbeat.   i have a few experienced buddies that i know would sign on so long as they were paid.   and, most likely a few more buddies that arent experienced that would sign on just to smoke some skinnies, just for the fun of it.     i could do it as a vacation.   think of it...in the middle of january, while it is 30 below zero at home,  i would be sitting in the warm sun,  sipping on some iced tea, exercising my trigger finger.   it would be like praire dog shooting only better,  because you wouldnt need a license and, because you would be shooting skinnies instead of praire dogs.  did i mention i dont like skinnies?   ;D   thinking about smoking a few of their devil-worshipping butts puts a big greasy smile across my face.

BILLY. I didn't know that, thanks. What is the range of those rpgs??? What will they penetrate?? I always figured a few m14s and some laws rockets would do the trick. What is the range of a laws??? Gotta be something they can do. Private security force seems the way to go. Would it be fun??? You bet, target practice. I'm tickled to death the Indian navy sunk one, reportedly a mother ship. They showed some captured pirates on the news last night. They should be shot on site, as soon as captured. Somebody's paying ransom, or they would stop this crap. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Maybe the oil tankers could have a small gun ship in tow. Some 20-30mm chain guns with gun cameras. Great youtube stuff. Myronman running the guns with his face paint on, scare the pirates bad. :o

i hear you on them m14's but i figure why give them a chance?   cold smoke them; the best enemy is one who never even stood a chance.    ;D

best info i can find on rpg's is maximum range is 250 meters, so triple that up, i come up with 750m, or lets just call it an even 1000 just for fun.   imagine trying to run up on a ship with a speed boat, if there is a team of guys sitting up with a few 50's and a minigun or two when all you got is a few ak 47's and some rpg's that you need to get within 1000 yards to have a chance in hell of hitting anything (ships are big, so we will figure an area target).   the 50 bmg can take out targets over a mile away.    the more i talk about it the more i like it.

An excellent weapon ofr a tanker would be an air booster launched rocket. One thing I don't think alot of the merchant Marines are killers. Myronman, if you are serious about doing this, understand, killing, some it bothers some it don't. When fighting an enemy it is best to consider them as a lesser being. That was all part of the names of our enemies in the past, Japs, Krauts, Gooks, Sand Niggers, ect. ect. I would guess the pirates are like most bullies, bloody thier nose a bit and they will run. Who knows, the Russian arms ship was probably a shipment to them and the Ruskies are just calling it paracy to not let it be known that they are dealing arms.
