40 S&W bullet weight
« on: November 19, 2008, 01:02:49 PM »
Just starting to reload the 40 S&W for a new XD40 M with 4" barrell.  I reload a number of other handgun and rifle cartridges.  I will be paper punching to 25 yds but usually closer.  I will also be getting Rainier plated flat pointed bullets for paper.  Bullet weights are 135, 155, 165 and 180.  Which one?  What are the pros and cons of different weight?

my Glock likes the 180's and my buddy's Stoeger likes the 165s best..you might have to try them all to find out what your pistol likes the most..or you might pick the right weight right off the bat..If I were to try just one I think I would go "middle of the road" with the 155s.  What factory loads does it like?  Match that bullet weight and see what happens.
