Open water beaver trapping is getting hard!!
« on: November 20, 2008, 03:41:53 PM »
What I'm mean is the water is getting hard. I left some traps in the only pond that wasn't completely iced over last check. It's a pond that I trying to trap out before the government trappers get to it. I had taken 7 out and thought there were some left. I moved a MB 12 16 out in the middle of the pond where I thought it would be ice free the longest. Today I used my hatchet to get to the trap and it held another beaver. Don't know if it was the last, but if not they will have to wait till spring.

The local rivers, creeks, and ponds are now forming ice here in northeast IL.
