Scope Mount Help, Please

I have an Arisaka 38 that has been reamed out to .257 Roberts. It has a Lyman Alaskan scope on it that appears to be a unity magnification with a cross hair on it. I want to mount a more modern scope of at least 3X9. The Alaskan scope has a diameter of 7/8". I need to get a base on it to mount 1" scope mounts. The base that mounted the Alaskan scope is a Redfield but has no part number. It has two holes on the front that measure about 7/8" apart. The distance to the front and rear holes is 6". Can anyone give me a clue as to what scope base I can purchase in order to mount a new scope on this rifle?
Thanks

How do the rings attach to the base? Does the scope have seperate rings or are they built in? A picture would be worth a thousand words. Larry

The front ring has been solved, a Leupold dove tail 1" ring fit for the front. The rear ring is similar to a Leupold rear ring that is mounted using the two screws on the side that allow for azimuth adjustment. It's similar but different from the Leupold. I either need a new base with the same hole pattern or a rear 1' ring that is the same mounting as the current 7/8" ring.

trotterlg,
Thanks for your reply. I looked at the Leupold rear ring with the az adjustment screws and I was wrong, it does fit. I'm going to to mount the base and see if the rings are far enough apart to mount a scope.
