Whale Wars
« on: November 22, 2008, 03:43:04 AM »
Have any of you seen this program?

It disgusted me, and probably not for the reasons that you think.  I have not gone a-whaling, nor do I really have any interest in it. I wouldn't mind trying out a nice whale steak, just out of curiosity, but that is beside the point.  My issue lies in the fact that the Discovery Network has seen fit to give legitimacy to what amounts to a terrorist organization.  With the lame disclamer of their views do not necessarily reflect ours they air a show about extreme animal rights activists who throw acid bombs, uses prop foulers is frigid arctic waters, and unlawfully board foreign vessels in international waters (what I always considered to be piracy.)  The Japanese are not given a single opportunity to explain that they are researching a way to come to balance and conduct a sustainable harvest (which all indicators show that they already have with the Minke whale population.)

I think that we need to let The Discovery Network know that this is wrong.  Regardless of what you personally feel about the whaling industry, allowing rabid Greenpeace terrorists who openly admit to having murdered people (as their leader did in a recent episode) is wrong . Next thing you know there will be a reality show about hippies following bear hunters in Maryland or deer hunters in Ohio.  This needs to be nipped in the bud, NOW.  Impartial informational shows about the effects or lack thereof of the whaling industry on whale populations is an important and interesting topic.  One sided glamorized ecoterrorism misinfomercials are NOT responsible programing.  I have attached a link below for you to make your opinions felt.  Please help me with this. Otherwise, THIS WILL NOT BE THE LAST IN THIS NEWEST VEIN OF PROGRAMMING!!!

I agree and hopefully they will all perish in the forzen waters as the whaling ship cuts them in half.

The Discovery Channel is not much different than the rest of the liberal networks as far as I am concerned.  Yes, they do offer a lot of very good and educational programs but they also have a lot of liberally slanted programing as well.

It would be so cool if these treetards just mysteriously disappeared in one of the very deep arts of the ocean. There are lots of unsolved mystery's in the depths of the ocean.

I saw the promotional ad for this show and decided it wouldn't be good for my blood pressure to watch.

It isn't such common knowledge, but the Norwegians are also active commercial whalers.  I spend time each year with my wife's family there and get a taste of whale meat on occasion.  My wife loves it, mostly out of tradition and uniqueness I think, but it won't be replacing beef in my diet any time soon.  The whale meat I've seen/eaten was very dark red and bloody when raw.  Like anything else, the taste varied depending on the age of the animal I suppose, and how the meat had been prepared.  Some had a slight fishy taste, but it was mostly like beef.  Whale is one dish that you don't want to overcook or it can become too tough to eat, like some bear.  Unlike bear, whale is often consumed raw, with a little soy sauce, sushi style.  This is the way I prefer it.

I've also had seal in Norway, and I thought seal was quite good, like very good calf liver.

About 10 years or so ago some tree huggers were following deer hunters into the woods to scare the deer away. My buddys brother was followed, they refused to leave him alone. He told them they were wasting their time cause he had a pretty good hike to get where he was going, they laughed at him and said, we don't care we're going too, you won't murder any deer today. He knew the woods well, grew up around there, they didn't. He led them for several miles. He sat down and rested and ate sandwiches he brought along. He gave up his hunt to teach them a lesson, they had walked in circles. About dark he lost them, left them there all night. Next day he went back, hasn't been bothered since. POWDERMAN.  :D :D :D :D :D :D
