Ruger Parts Availability

Granted, you can't believe too much of what you hear in gunshops. But, I was recently advised that Ruger can no longer supply parts for some of their discontinued guns, particularly the tubular feed .44 carbine (Deerstalker). Has anyone experienced a problem obtaining parts from Ruger?

You can always contact the manufacturer at their website. Ruger last offered the original .44 Mag semi-auto in 1985, and I believe they do not offer any more service or parts. Try Numrich gun Parts, Inc.

That's not a rumor - it's a fact.

You can find info to that effect on their web site. I can tell you from personal experience that Ruger has not had parts for the original 44 carbine for many years and when I tried to send mine back for a feeding problem they told me to trade it in or sell it. They will not accept the rifle for repairs. My rifle shot great and may have only needed to be disassembled, cleaned, lubed and reassembled but they declined to take the rifle in.

I traded the carbine in for the new version. Oddly enough, it doesn't shoot as accurately as my old model but it feeds and ejects reliability.

  As stated here and on thier website, no parts and/or service for that moel is available.  Numerich, or another on-line parts source is the ebst bet.

Does anyone know if they still have parts for the stainless, security six, in 357 magnum?

I read on a forum they don't. But apparently after market mainsprings are available.

Can anyone verify this, or lead me to a company that offers security six parts?

Ruger does not carry the parts for discontinued guns.

All any Ruger firearms owner has to do is go to the Ruger website, click on the parts manual for the firearm in question and look at the first page of the download.
If it says "discontinued model", where you chose the manual, it's most likely the first page will have ghost printing, at an angle across the page, stating the manual is for reference only - and you cannot order parts from it.

Some parts companies, like Numrich Arms, contract to buy all NOS parts of discontinued guns, from many manufacturers.  That is how they stay in business, unless they also manufacture parts.

Looks like they have the mainspring assembly I need. But I better call them to make sure.

In any case it's a future project; I can't afford it right now. But maybe I should buy the parts to make sure I have them when it's time to take it to the gunsmith?

I would imagine mainsprings are in limited supply, since Ruger stopped making the Security Six years ago.
