9mm cast leading problem
« on: November 23, 2008, 06:00:07 AM »
Veral,
I have several 9mm handguns. Two Sig, P226s, Glock 26, and I had an XD Tactical, and I experienced sever leading in ALL of them.

My cast bullet is from an H&G #7 mold. I have used everywhere from straight wheel weights to a mixture of wheel weight (80%) & Linotype(20%), pushed hard, sized big (.358"), sized small (.355") with no difference at all. The odd part is that it is in ALL of the firearms.

Any help would be appreciated.

p.s. Here is a video of me shooting these bullets sized @ .355" with 4.3gr HP-38 and cast soft. Looks like a black powder load! ;)

I'd need a bit more information to give you a solid answer, but for starters, and probably the finisher, all the stuff sold for bullet lube does not work the same.  Have you tried one of the LBT lubricants.   The smoke you are throwing appears to be vaporized alox lube, but any lube soft enough to fly off the bullet as it exits the muzzle will blow into a vapor by the powder blast.
Rough barrels may be a factor, but not likely with several guns.  Please give me more information if you can.
