Ilion Update
« on: November 24, 2008, 06:08:24 AM »
Got some good news on the new H&R plant in Ilion. The new assembly line has been vastly improved over the old method, they have a new wood manufacturing process being installed that will improve the wood to metal fit. They're considering offering the 2 and 3 barrel combo guns again, and replacing the nickel frames with the stainless SS 45-70 Ultra frame, and increasing the stainless offerings. The new offerings will still depend on distributor interest, so that remains to be seen. I dunno if the SS frames are a good idea since it will increase the cost considerably if the SS 45-70 Ultra price is indicative. But I certainly don't think anyone will complain about the wood to metal fit being improved!! ;D

It all sounds good Tim.  I, for one don't mind paying more for stainless.  It seems like it's always snowing or raining here, and it's nice to have a firearm that just needs a wipe.  Any word on the magnums ???

Handi-Mags are still canceled unless distributor interest improves.  :-\

Spanky, I'll bet they don't fix all
They leave a few for you and I can tinker.

I would like 45-70 stainless done in the traditional open sight version (standard stock shape but with the laminates), same with a 30/30.

It would be nice to have the wood stock shape a little slimmer.  If they would follow the same shape as the plastic one that would be an improvement over the canoe paddle it is.  DP
