Dipping traps?
« on: November 24, 2008, 02:18:34 PM »
Now that the ice put a stop to my beaver trapping I need to get my traps (330's) ready for spring. I had dyed my traps in the past and now want to try dipping them. Any help or tricks with the process would be appreciated.

Shawn,I have dipped my 330's for years. I mix up my speed dip with coleman fuel, don't use gasoline.
I add my coleman and may add a little more than the directions say--it all depends on how it looks to me.I do not want it to thick. You can dip one ,let it dry and see how you like the results--if everything is fine--dip away.
I pour my dip into a Rubbermaid sweater box and dip one trap at a time.Dip,turn, shake and hang.
If you are dipping in colder weather--then for sure ,thin out your dip.

How much dip do you start out with for doing 330's? Is one can enough to start out with.
