New Stevens 200 Owner
« on: November 25, 2008, 10:37:39 AM »
;D I just got back from 3 weeks in Virginia where I became the proud owner of a Stevens 200 in 308 Win.
I mounted my VX-II Leupold on it & had it dialed in 9 rounds. The 10th round "down the tube" & I had my
deer !  This rifle has got to be one of the best rifle values out there !

I bought it with the intent of re-barreling to a 260 Rem, but I dono, I hate to mess with a "good shooter"?

I'll check it out some more before I make my final decision.  :) ;) :D ;D Jim !

You are not going to get an argument out of me - the Stevens 200 IS one of the best deals out there. And you made a good choice in the 308. I have been tussling with myself which to get next. Hmmm...30-06, 308, or maybe a 7mm-08. Maybe rebarrel to a 260 - decisions, decisions :D

Why mess with something that works? What would the 260 do that the 308 can't ?

LaOtto,  those are all good choices - I can't wait to see what you decide on !  :)

BBF, I can't argue with your logic so I think I'll continue to enjoy the 308.  Maybe I'll look for a used 200 to rebarrel to a 260 ?    ;)    Thanks - Jim

Watch Savageshooters, it's not that hard to find an action for sale.
