Christmas time
« on: November 25, 2008, 12:37:35 PM »
How many go on the hundreds of toy runs across the country this time of year. Little suggestion if you don't do it already.Bring toy motorcycles and guns,G.I.Joes etc,yes they even have biker babe dolls for the girls. Its for the kids for sure but it don't hurt to leave a memory of the kind of folks that made their Christmas great or at least better.

I don't know about how all of them work but here in Chicago, turn your donations into the toys for tots orginization directly. If you go to the armory the marines take them and give them to other kids in other countries as a propaganda tool.

Sorry back on topic.

I used to go every year, but haven't in two years.

It's really something to see all those bikes in one place.

My Chapter has a "Care Bear" run every Christmas where we provide a Full Christmas, food, gifts, etc., for a needy family, Preferably for the family of a deployed service member.

We also work with another neighboring Chapter for a toy run.

You're absolutely right there Amigo!

Amigo:
Quite a while back, Pat and I were big into chainsaw carving, and we, as a team, were really good at it. It was through her and her chapter that we got started carving at the toy runs - would spend the whole day making one killer piece that would be auctiond off in the evening. Had some of the very best times and met some of the greatest people we know doing that.

Thanks for the invite Amigo - The chainsaw days were a long time ago - both younger then, but we still do it for the causes - Toys for Tots and Freinds of NRA fundraisers, etc.

Figure you guys will apreciate this one -- One of the best ones we ever did. Made it for a buddy of mine who had a powder coating buissness. He hung it up across the front of the building. It was 11 1/2 foot across - did it in four seperate pieces. Usually used chainsaws only, but on this one we went in with a chisel to clean up the corners of the lettering in the bar and shield. When it was done, Mamacita didn't want to let it go. Told her "Hell, we'll make a bigger one when we find a bigger log. Never did.

Hey Amigo -- She still smiles just as pretty, but not quite as often as back then.

Our Toys for Tots ride was today. In 32 degree weather and a 25 mph north wind we had 168 bikes and over 250 people registered for the ride. Had a great time.

I have two Toy runs this weekend the 6th but will be hunting so I'm sending a couple of toys with my buds. The 13th me and OL are going to a toy run with another MC come cold or sunshine may have to trailer but going to ride unless it's iced over.
Deer hunting is mostly fun then you shoot one and it turns to work.
