I was debating the merits of constructing a stainless tank for doing a home parkerizing job. But has anyone just used Jasco Prep/Prime or some other metal prep phosphoric acid? Assuming that you oil it afterwards......
Just wondering.

I wanted to repark my 49/56 french MAS commando rifle but on another forum they suggested using brownells aluma-hyde in gray park. I washed the area with rubbing alcohol to get the oil off and them heated the area with a hair dryer. Then i sprayed it with the aluma hyde and went over it with the hair dryer again to bake it on. The new park matches the old park exactly and you can't even tell it was touched up and its so easy to do too. Aluma-Hyde comes in many different colors and shades too.

I like the Gun-Kote products. You can get them from Brownells also, or direct from KG. Most everything I have done has fit in the oven in the kitchen to bake the finish.

I ended up buying a can of "dark parkerizing gray" Aluma Hyde II. I still haven't used it yet. Always something else to do besides prepping the metal. I want to do it all in one or two days because of rusting.
Like the man said, Brownells.
