Good afternoon everyone. Nice day here today in Montana.
Well it would it would have been but for the flat tire I got. I was out on the prairie about 25 miles from town, going to see a guy when I got a rock through the tread.
Got out to change it with factory provide tire changing equipment. This is the first time I have had a flat on this truck. The Truck is a 2002 and was driven on east salted roads and only just bit on the Montana dirts road. When I tried to lower the spare from under the rear frame I find the locking mechanism is all corroded and jammed with mud and dirt. After 45 minutes of and banging away trying to knock the debris loose to lower the tire with no luck, I called the tire shop and they came rescued me.
Went back to town and the Tire guys broke the tire down and found a walnut size rock rolling around inside tire. Where the rock came through the tread was a 2 inch y shaped tear. Not repairable. 226 dollars later I was headed home. The tire guys also tell me that this corroded up spare tire lock is very common.
So guys check the spare tire lock on you truck while it sits in the driveway, don't find out about it when you are out in the hills.
Now I know why they call this black Friday
