250 gr. loads for 9.3x62mm

Hi,
I have been using the 270 gr. speer with BLC-2 and getting 2500 fps. from the 20" barrel of the
CZ 550fs.  Would like to try 250 gr. bullets, higher velosity, longer range.  I would like to use it on
big deer, big hog, maybe elk and bear.  What do you think?

I only use the 250 gr Barnes X or TSX in my 9.3x62's. My 24' barrelled FN Mauser and I went to Africa in 2002 using the said X at 2650 fps and it worked wonderfully on the little springbuck at 250 yards and this guy at 30 yards. I use a compressed charge of VV N-550 powder in Norma brass. It will handle any game in North America IMO.

What is you OAL using the 250gr. TSX and do you crimp into one of the
grooves, with the CZ 550 there is a lot of room to seat the bullet out. 
I haven't tried the powder your using but you think with 250gr. bullets a
medium burn rate would work better than something as slow as H-4350.
Out of all the powders I have tried BLC-2 gives me about 100 fps. more with
any bullet weight.  I even loaded 286 gr. with 62.5 grs. of BLC-2 with 2350 fps.
out of the 20" barrel with no pressure signs, also with Norma brass.  The
S & B brass is about 100 fps. slower and weighs apx 20 grs. less.  Also why
did you go to a 250gr. bullet and pick the TSX over a Swift or nosler?

I load them to 3.300" and do not crimp. I found H 414 to work quite well too. I chose the 250 gr X as I am an "X believer" and only use X/TSX (I bought a bunch of 9.3 250 gr X's before the TSX came out) in my big game rifles. This year I used the 225 gr TSX in a 35 Whelen on moose and elk and, again, bullet performance was stellar. No doubt the A-Frame and Partition are fine bullets too and years back I used the Partition solely in my rifles. Today it is the X/TSX and I have found the TSX to be a very accurate bullet.

JJ, what load of BLC-2 has been generating those velocities for you with the 270gr pill?
I've been using Varget so far for the Speer and it has proved accurate but some more velocity would be appreciated.

I really like this cartridge, here's me info.

bullet:270gr. speer, case: Norma, primer: Federal 215, powder: BLC-2 66.0grs.OAL: 3.280
Velocities: 2503,2513,2487,2470,2507, 2485, low 2466 average 2486

bullet:286gr. Privi, case Norma, primer Federal 215, powder: Blc-2 62.5grs. OAL: 3.285
average velocity was 2345 fps.

With the 270 gr speer using a max. load of 59.5grs of Varget average velocity was 2413 fps.
temperature was apx. 80* when chronographed. from a 20" barrel.

When you consider my .375 H&H was getting 2650 fps. out of a 26" barrel using a 270gr. hornady
bullet, minus 25 fps per inch that's 150 fps. that almost makes 9.3x62mm equal in a 20" barrel.

Mmmm, I think I may try that load, of course backing off a little and then winding it up.
