Scribed scope rings
« on: August 14, 2003, 02:26:43 PM »
Not sure if its called scribed, engraved or what. But I saw some of the best looking scope rings on a used gun the other day. Looked for a name or anything on them but could not. They had kinda a western scribing on them. Not a particular picture or nothing just fancy western style sribing. They amy have been cast that way instead of scribed.

I looked and searched the internet and can't come up with anything. Any one know what this is called or who might make them ?

Thanks

Cabin 4  :  Leupold used to make them and another co. that escapes me at this time, I once had a Manlicker (dont laugh at the spelling) that had a set pf paul jager rings that were the quick remove type that were engraved to match the action, but alas it has long been sold, beautiful 7x57 full stock, man do we ever do some foolish things in our youth, anyhow I have seen some of the leupold rings show up on e-bay dont know if you can still get them. :D    JIM

Millett makes some engraved rings. This may be what I put on my new 35 whelen AI when it's finished. I have never used their engraved rings, but have used their plain rings and bases (the Turn in rings not the Angle Loc)
I think that their two piece turn in bases look better than Burris, Redfield, and even Leupold.

Bruce is right - Millet makes engraved rings - or at least they did.  The rings that I had a black gloss finish and looked really nice.  However, I DON'T like Millet rings.  Now I only use Leupold Dual Dovetails or Warne Maxima rings and bases.
