44 vs 445 barrel twist
« on: December 01, 2008, 03:03:54 AM »
Is there a different twist rate between the factory 44 mag barrels and the factory 445 barrels?

I've compared them, and they both look identical. Which I believe to be 1-18. At least that's what a couple of my owners manual say. gypsyman

The factory wants an extra $10 for the 445 barrel.  I know the 44 mag barrel will screw into a 445 frame - tried it.

The only difference I see is a slight difference in length and of course the shroud is different, otherwise they are close enough to be switched.

I am using a 44 shroud that I milled out the ejector rod slot to allow for the longer 445 ejector rod.  If there is a difference in length then I had better get the 44 mag barrel, as that is what the shroud is for.
