Light .475 bullet
« on: December 01, 2008, 06:15:37 PM »
Which 325 gr .475 bullet will be best for out to 200 yard.  WFN or FN?  I will be shooting them out of an Encore and FA.  What velocity range will they need to stabilize at 200 yards
Thanks Brett

Definately the WFN, and you won't need much velocity to get them stable if you fit them to the gun properly.  I don't like to make the LFN in weights lighter than 350 gr, in 475 caliber.

In your catalog there is a FN at 325 gr is it differnt than the LFN.  I am looking for a short nose bullet for plinking as i already have one of your 400 LFN moulds.
Thanks Brett

If the catalog says FN it is a typo.  It is in fact a WFN, and is the proper way to order.  But I won't get it wrong either way when I set up to cut the mold.  If you want the bullet nose really short, which is a very good idea for light loads, as it uses up more powder space, ask me to put the crimp as far forward as possible.  I will place it entirely in the ogive, which leaves maximum bearing surface for optimum accuracy.

Would a 325 to 350 gr LBTK be possible with a .35 nose.
Thanks

Yes, it would be possible, and perhaps a bit better than the WFN so far as nose weight, as I woud modify the nose to a shorter length for that purpose.
