What brand were the 180 gr. , factory or reloads ?  My 30-06  handi shoots great with 180 gr. reloads and factory loads (Remington).

My favorite gun is my Handi 30-06.  It shoots the Speer 125gr TNTs using IMR 4350, 165gr Nosler Ballistic Tips with IMR 3031 and RL-22, Nosler 180s both Ballistic tips and Partitions using RL-22.  I have also loaded some Nosler 220gr Partitions but I don't remember the loads.  I don't hunt with them, they are for up close and personal use if needed, so I have never checked them for grouping.  My Encore shoots the same loads as the Handi well.

With factory the Handi shoots Remington Core Locked 180s well also.  Have not shot any other factory loads through it.  For some reason it does not like Hornady bullets.  Sierra and Barnes bullets do work well, but Noslers are my favorite.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I've got two H&R 30-06s, the Ultracomp shoots handloaded 200gr Nosler partitions well inside 1" with a healthy dose of RL22, it and the stainless Handi both shoot 1" or less with 150gr Federal Fusions right at 3000fps. ;)
