.....There are twist rates in the 223 guns from 1-7 to 1-12 and SOME do shoot fine withthe 55gr bullets in all the twist.......the normal bolt gun twist is 1-12 and will shoot all three bullet weights you use ......I have had good luck with H335 and Hornady 55 VMax bullets.....the Imr 4895 has done well also and W748 does good for many loads.......If you have a bolt gun the powder isn't as critical but if you have a auto/gas gun some don't like the burn-pressure curve of some powders........ there are a bunch of different brands of brass available and the internal volumne and weight of this brass is more variable than 22-250 brass and be sure to stick with one type of brass for load developement and loading.......good luck and good shooting!!

I was going to mention Varget, I use it in my M70 w/55g BT with great results. It groups a tad bit larger (1/4" max) compared to H335 but the vel gain is worth it! Mine likes just a tenth under max with WW brass and .5 under with military brass.

My votes go for H-335 and W-748 also. Both have worked well for me. I also like the Sierra 55gr spitzer and the 50-55gr Blitz kings.  KN

I sort my brass by brand and load them that way, you may get different results with each brand, but for the most part they will be CLOSE but not exactly the same, come to the gunshow sat in l. rock and you can get all kinds of brass. :-D  :D   JIM

Yes im sure it would be OK but I would still try and break it down as to brand as soon as I got some extra brass.   JIM

With the 55g BT's for max range and vel I use the max load listed on the Varget jug with WW brass NOT mil brass and I also include PMC with the mil also. With the Mil brass like Lake City I usually back off .7 grains at least. There is around .8-1.0 grain difference in internal volume from commertial brass and military. WW holds the most, Fed is next then Rem but for all general loading they are very close. Just have to follow gerneral loading practices and work up!  For accuracy the H335 get's the honors with 25.0 grains under a 55g BT.
The Varget loads are around 3350 and group around a inch. The H335 loads run around 3150 and group about .70
This is out of my Win M70 w/24" bbl using WW primers.
I tried some Ramshot Exteminator but wasn't really impressed.  Need to work on it a bit more though and try a few more combo's.
