December 3, Good morning GBO

Good Chilly Montana morning every one! A nippy 11 degrees this morning.  Montanan and dpe be sure you zip you jacket up before you go out.

Well as I said yesterday I was waiting for the UPS truck to come. Here's the boox he brought

THE BOX

This is what was in it.  A Dictator mortar made by CARPENTER'S REPLICA  ARTILLERY.   Donny Carpenter is a GBO sponsor.  Everybody's got to get one of those.

DOM DICTATOR

What do you think, will it make a good gopher gun?

It seems like about 1964 at Friendship, Indiana during the fall turkey shoot, a fellow shooter brought out a replica piece like that. He tried to shell the hill top behind the pistol range. There was a high wind blowing over the top of the hills that morning. He fired his first round , and missed the mountain. He reloaded, with another orange juice can filled with concrete, adjusted his elevation and touched her off. Missed again. Another round and another miss. About then we heard a siren in the distance. A Police car came roaring over the wooden bridge into the campgrounds, red light and siren going, and a guy in the passenger seat hanging out the window screaming " DON'T SHOOT, DON'T SHOOT". Seems like the wind was catching the projectiles and dropping them into the town square! Each sighting adjustment moved the impact point a few feet closer to the School House. After breakfast.....but that's another story. It's a bit nippy here in the Mountains of NM too. Have fun.

Good Story burntpowder...back then everyone involved would have been real apologetic and embarassed.  Today they would exercise there right to silence and an attorney.

Got a good friend in one of the muzzleloader clubs I belong to.  We don't let him use his cannon any more, he set tents on fire twice with the darn thing.  Once it was his and once someone else's.  Someone else might say that one is just a little bit of overkill for a whitettail, but then they haven't seen our Montana deer have they. ;D  Looks good Double D.  Roads are better tonight than this morning, melted some when the sun came out.  Supposed to hit the fourtys Fri and close to 50 by Sunday here.  DP
