Thanks Tim.
I actually called on them first, but I gave up after 10 minutes on hold. I will try with them again, maybe in a few hours.

Thanks
Nick

Good luck, just in case, here are the part numbers.  ;) I have a new parts list, hadn't looked to see if it had Sidekick stuff on it! :-[ If you can't get thru, you could always snail mail an order form in to them.

Tim

syn - M03195 $19.05

wood - M03207 $19.95

Thanks again Tim. I think this will be the route I will take as I just tried to call again with a 14 min. wait this time. I wonder why they don't pic up the darn phone? Could they be that busy?

I suspect they're very busy, the Gardner plant usually was. :'(

Nick,
I hope you have better luck than I did.  I tried several times and gave up after being on hold for an eternity.  When I finally did get a hold of someone, I apparently stumped them with the part I needed.  She transfered me to "technical assistance" which turned out to be Remington.  I got an answering machine where I left a message two weeks ago.  I still haven't received a response.

By chance, does the forearm on your Sidekick have a spring-metal retainer that keeps the ram rod in place?  That is the part I need.  According to the person at H&R, the schematic doesn't show this piece.

Keep trying, Thunder talked to them today, so it can be done, just takes some patience.  :-\ The ramrod retainer spring is part #M02864 $1.65.

Tim

Hi Quik, thanks for the heads up on the light barrel. I just got off the phone with NEF and they confirmed that they can and will install the 12g. light barrel with the scope rail on the 12g. frame. They currently are out of stock but assures me it will happen.
That will make my retro much easier.
I had a 20g. made for my daughter and it is very nice. She got her first deer with it a couple of weeks ago.

Shame on me for bad-mouthing H&R's customer service.  I reached them today to order the ramrod retainer spring (thanks to Tim with the part#).  I was on hold for 14 minutes, but I'm sure they are busy.  The part is only $1.65 but there is a minimum shipping charge of $8 :o .  He said he didn't think that was right, so he is sending it for free (under warranty  ;) ) .

Kudos to H&R for great customer service.

That's good to hear they are carrying on the traditional good service we've always experienced with Gardner.  ;) Sounds like they've increased shipping considerably over what H&R charged, but then with the rising cost of fuel prices, to be expected. They need to implement a small parts shipping cost like Brownell's for parts under 1lb.

Thanks for the feedback,  ;)

Nick,
My forend is split, also.  It came that way(bought the gun used).  I forced some wood glue down in the split and it seems to be good and strong.  Please give us a follow-up post if you get though and order a new one.  I may eventually order a new one, myself.

I'd be asking for a replacement FREE! They must have some poorly made forends if two of you got splits. :-\  Give em a call and ask for an email address to send the a pic to it, I don't think the old email addy works, I never got a reply on the last two emails I sent.   :-X
