AR Barrel change
« on: December 03, 2008, 09:01:34 PM »
I have a Rock River that I'm thinking about changing the barrel on.  It has the midlength handguards.  I have a longer DPMS barrel on backorder that I believe takes the full length handguards.  Besides the correct length hanguards what else is needed to change to the longer barrel.  I assume I'll need a differant gas tube.  Anything else?  What tools?

A G.I. barrel wrench , reciever blocks , bench vise , torque wrench , rifle gas tube , probably a new gas tube roll pin, pin punches , hammer . You might want to leave the old barrel assembled , and just install a new front sight base or gas block on the new barrel if it doesn't come assembled . Some install a new bolt also but it probably isn't needed .
