CZ shotguns how good ?
« on: December 04, 2008, 12:13:20 PM »
Okay guys I've been hearing/reading alot of bad reports lately about broken fireing pins and barrels that wont fire. I like the looks, weight and price. But for the money even if it is cheaper than many.I think they should be more reliable. Is the problems overexagerated ? Wanting to get a good double but I'm not sure if cz will hold up to alot of use like clays and hunting. Now if the fireing pins brak how big a deal is it to replace them, cant they be upgraded ? I'm just this close to buying one but... ::)

I've owned several tho I've not used any of them hard and neither have the folks I know personally who own them. But from that personal experience with them I consider them nice dependable guns. I don't think I'd get one if I were a really high volume shooter but for the average casual shooter who mostly uses it for hunting and maybe an occasional round at clays I think they are nice guns.

They might not hold up to serious use the way a Browning or Beretta do but then they don't cost nearly so much either.

I have a Redhead O/U in 20 gauge and it's been a good dependable gun that I use primarily for skeet. I know a guy who bought a Redhead in 12 gauge and it arrived with a problem that required sending back for warranty repair.

Let me say, right off the bat, I don't own a CZ shotgun, but I have never read anything negative about them.  I do own several CZ rifles and pistols, and have never had a problem with them.  My CZ .22 bolt is one of the most accurate .22 rifles I own.  CZ has established a reputation as a solid, reliable gun at a fair price.  Last year I looked at a CZ SxS 28ga, and was very impressed.  Yea, you can buy Russian SxS's cheap, but GOOD SxS's cost $ to make, and that pretty CZ was worth the $1000.00 it was going for.

I own the CZ SxS Bobwhite in 20 gauge. It is my user and works well. It was stiff at first to unhinge, but is very smooth now. Weight is perfect for me.

The CZ shotguns are made by Huglu with the CZ name.

Foxxtrot;  I love those Bobwhite 20 gauge.   Almost got one myself a couple of summers ago, but walked into a gunshow one morning and there sat a 1975 (NIB condition) Fox B 20 gauge.   My wife wouldn't let me buy it for what the trader wanted.   So he turned on her, (bad for him), and I walked away with it for $400.   It's a humdinger.    But I still have a fondness for one of those Bobwhite's.  :D

I own a CZ side by side 12ga. Had it for years with no problems other than keeping the auto ejecters cleaned. It was made in the Czech Republic.
The latest models might be made in Turkey[not sure]
