My best buck ever. (More Pics)
« on: December 04, 2008, 01:40:41 PM »
Sorry guys, wasn't using a Handi but.........

A few more pics..............

This is my best deer ever. 12 points, 21" spread, 8" G2's with a rare split in both, perfect symmetrical rack, lots of mass. 150 lbs. field dressed. I hit him at about 55 yards, straight on top center of the neck while he had his head ducked. He folded on the spot. .308 Ruger Hawkeye, Leupold VX-II 4-12x40 scope, 165 grain Federal Fusion ammo. I kept the rack for a horn mount.

we deer hunters hunt all season for 30 sec of action or in a case like this we hunt a lifetime for 30 sec  of action but what that means is if we have 30 sec left in our hunting life maybe  maybe ;D ;D

Thanks for sharing, but who wouldn't with a buck like that.  Neat color of the antlers.  Ours are all nearly white sandy color.  Course haven't seen many this year.

Congrats!

Thanks for all the congrats and replies. Unfortunately I've been unemployed since June 30th this year after eight good years with the same company. So a shoulder mount was just out of the question at this time. A head mount would run about $175-$200 here and even that would have been too much. Soooooo.....I just kept the rack for a horn mount. That'll work for me. I have a lot of pictures too.
As far as the color of the horns, I was told by a friend that it probably means that he hadn't been in the sun much. I figure he hadn't shown himself much and was most likely the dominant buck of the area. He didn't show signs of any recent fights, but he'd sure been rubbing the trees.

Send a few copies of those pictures to Ruger, Federal, and Leupold, see if they will pay you something to use them in an advertisement. That great deer sure is good enough to go into an ad....<><....:)
