Thanks Skunk. I appreciate the kind words. However, and I'm not speaking for everyone here, just me. I'm no hero. I was just a young man that loved his country and felt a obligation to serve. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have three uncles that saw combat. One was a USAF Captain that flew 129 B-52 missions in 'Nam. Another was a Marine scout/sniper in 'Nam. And the third (God love him) was in the Marines in Korea. Was at the Chosin Resevoir and got a Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. After listening to those guys talk there was no way I was not going to serve.

Jim, that's something that many young men and women today wouldn't understand. God Bless the ones that do.

Just spotted this thread 13 b 10 / l 9     1976 to 1979   T'Harde Holland till I was busted for the suspicion of the use of marijuana hashish or a derivetive of.

Was on a bike forum and spotted a cheesehead from Amersfort Holland . It is close to Harde . I ask about the Base and he said it was now closed down. Guess the fall of the Ruskies took the need of big kabooms out of that part of the world. :o

Gentelmen and Ladies,

It occurred to me long ago that military service was only part of my duty.  The rest is ongoing.  My job is to make sure there is still a Constitutional United States of America for our current military to come home to.

OK 20 years, 6 months, and 27 days, Air Force.  I was a Plumber, Cowboy, and a Production Controller.  A very exciting career.

As a Plumber, I had a very hazardous job, working in base housing around dependent wives.  That could get a man shot fast.  Did that for 9 years.

As a Cowboy, I rounded up livestock, cattle and horses, off the White Sands area behind Holloman AFB.  Also rounded up a lot of Illegals as well, then turned them over to the Border Patrol.  The only Tech Sargent on base that wore spurs to work.

As a Production Controller, I planned, programed, and scheduled construction projects.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
