.446 money bullet
« on: December 05, 2008, 12:02:59 PM »
I got a mould of a .446 diameter "money" bullet - 535 grains - from Buffalo Arms.  It patches up to .452 diameter.  Wiping tween shots and with 47.5 grains weighed or 70 grains measured of Py----x Select produces excellent groups at 100 yds.  I'll have to shoot farther when I can get a chance.

However, I shot over snow and finally found what was left of my patches (never coould find anything of the .458 diameter patch).  All I could find was the bottom of the patch with burned paper leading up to it.  I did find a hunk of lube.  It looks like it was blown out the bore before it melted.

I have been wanting to try a .446 in my muzzleloader. I have been thinking about ordering the RCBS 11 mm mould. I would like a bullett in the 350 to 400 gr range with soft lead. What are you shooting your .446 out of? How hard is your lead?  Ron

I'm shooting it out of a Sharps, 34" barrel with a 1:20 lead mixed with tin.

I am going to have to order some .446 this winter and give them a try. Ron
