how can the hinge pin be removed?
« on: December 05, 2008, 05:29:51 PM »
it looks to me like its splined on both ends.  is that correct?  what side does it come out?  also, has anyone removed one without a press, just by knocking it out?
I've got to many but never enough!!!!

It can be knocked out to the left, it's splined on the left side just like the rest of the pins, but be sure to index it so you can install it the same way. One member knocked it out to "clean" his new unfired Handi, he had to send it back to H&R to fit the barrel again! An arbor press would work better, but I've removed a few with a brass drift and a lot of careful hammering! :o :D
