Cottontails and a .410

How many of you hunt rabbits with a .410 and what shells do you use?  This is going to be my first time hunting with a .410 and I've had real good patterns with both 3" #6 and 3" #7.5 out to 25yds with an I/C choke.  I usually never need to shoot farther than 20 yards though with most shots around 10-15 yds.

 Good lord, those little fellers better watch out. :D
I use 2 1/2" remingtons in #6 does fine out to 25 yards. Have a few doubleswith I/C.
How many shells does that sucker hold? It might make a good muskrat popper.

That is a 10 round magazine. There is also a 15 round magazine available now. Unfortunately, it Michigan, we are limited to 6 rounds total when hunting with a semi-auto so I have to use the factory 4 round magazines.  I just make sure that I have several loaded magazines in my pocket when I go out.  ;D

Gee, I hope you have enough gun.   ;)

I hunted them with a 410 when I was a little kid (a Stevens Bolt Mod 58B w/3-shot clip - still have it 55 years later).   Since then I've hunted them with rimfire rifles and for years rimfire handguns.

Good Lord!!! How many rabbits are you going to shoot at one time.  ;D ;D ;D
When hunting cottontails with our beagles. My boy's use 410's with # 6's or # 7 1/2's. My grandson's use single shot 410's with the same.
I use a 28ga on my T/C contender with mostly # 6's.

Lord-ie-Mercy!   Where'd you get that thing???????   From your 'Subject' {Cottontails and a .410} I envisioned a sweet little single shot .410ga. shotgun.   Boy! what a shock I got.   That oughta make instant tenderized rabbit minced meat pie ala-mode. ;D ;D

It's still just a .410!  ;D I have 2 magazines for 2 1/2" shells and 3 magazines for 3" shells.  This shotgun will actually save meat as it has a improved cylinder choke attached instead of the standard full choke on most other model .410s.  I also have a modified and full choke for it if I need them.
