A blond told me this about gas mileage

Supposedly the dirt track racers add a half of a moth ball to a tank of gas.  The "blond" says that it will affect gas milage by increasing it.  Anyone use moth balls?

it is supposed to slightly increase octane. It will do nothing to increase gas milage. theres no way id put them in my motors

If i remember correctly the moth balls was to raise octane as they desolved
would really make you car get it. That was all proven bogus back in the 60's

Many years ago I knew a guy that raced his motorcycle and put moth balls in the tank.  When he tore his motor down he had pits in the top of the piston.  He thought it was from running the moth balls.

My dad told me that a box of mothballs in the gas tank would make a car really run till it locked it up. He was a late fifties hot rodder.
