I would like to be able to generate electricity with steam power (burning wood). We need a backup electricity for our two well pumps. I've seen industrial strength stuff on the internet at over 20 K. Can anyone direct me to a unit that would have enough power to supply two well pumps?

well pumps are large consumers of power if you can install a hand pump on one of your wells.

Not an option .. the 1st pump pumps from the well to a settleng tank that is 100 ft up hill. The 2nd pump in the settling tank pumps 1000 ft up hill to storage tanks. The system supports 15 households .. need a bunch of water

Steam would be very labor intensive, and require watching close,have you looked into BIO fuel?

labor and wood would not be a problem ... we currently only pump about 6-8 hours per day ... we are in a forest setting and have all the wood we would ever need ... again .. it is for back up ... if we loose electricity .. not full time

I expect gasoline to go way up in price in the near future ... so I'm looking to alternatives to a gas or propane generator

You might want to look up wood-gas. They used to run cars and tractor off it during the war.

When you discharge your water downhill to homes, it has to go downhill for water pressure right?  Might this work?
