You beat me to this post by just a few seconds Steve.
I was on the phone with my wife when she informed me that Rod & his chief of staff were arrested, cuffed, and walked out of the building. The State employees in Springfield are in celebration!
I still think that our president elect is involved in some of these doings but maybe not this one in particular...I just dont know if they can reel him in though.

It never ceases to amaze me how some politicians think they can get away with anything. After reading the above news release, this Blagojevich character has to take the cake for being a "stupid" and corrupt official. Boy oh boy those were some just plain dumb moves that he made in terms of broadcasting his corruption.

Congrats to the people of the Illinois!

This is a good example of Illinois corruption.  Hopefully this will be a start to get rid of the highway tolls that were supposed to have been removed in the 1970's.

Be careful here. I'm somewhat of a history buff and I can't remember the last time a sitting demigod was unseated and we got someone better to replace him? In my opinion, the fight isn't over!

Wouldn't surprise me if Durbin or one of his cronies introduces a thought to let Blagojevich run Illinois from a prison cell? Wish they would put him in Pontiac Correction Institution, that would be Justice! He already says to hold a special election to determine who will replace O'Bama.
I didn't hear, did Blagojevich step down(like a gentleman) during his court appearance, this afternoon?

Last election shows not all the state votes for them, just the nine counties around Chicago(states largest metropolitan area).

This seems to be the clearest view here. Arrest is one thing. Conviction and punishment another. As a Texan whom has spent much time in the Chicago area, I am glad to be back home, and hope my friends there get justice. I will cross my fingers for you.

1st intelligent thing I here him say in 6yrs and the next morning he's in jail. Oh that was that the state was suspending doing bussiness with Bank Of America. I hope they fry him . They should be able to name a special wing at the Fed prison IL governers row. Kurt

You know whats kind of Ironic here is shortly after the George Ryan affair,they made it mandatory that state employee's in the Department of Corrections take a Ethics test annually! Actually mine is do again in a month or two ::) I would think this is a state wide thing so I'd like to see Rod's scores :D  Typical Politics Do as I say Not as I Do  >:(

Yours is sobering torpedoman as the IL Supreme court is defending Rod from being ousted. Looks like most everyone else wants him out though.

I watched one of the national news programs(meet the press or whatever)this last weekend and one Republicans stated there are no rules or laws governing impeachment, in Illinois? Nothing in our constitution or any other laws. If the legislature now creates new laws it will mean any future impeachment proceedings will have to follow the rules or laws that they make. So they need to tread lightly. Certainly would benefit all of Illinois, if he would just step down but, I personally, don't see that ever happening.
