With great resevation I have decided to continue with the NRA
« on: December 09, 2008, 06:35:27 AM »
I said I would not but, never say never, as my old mama has always said. I renewed my subscription today, not allowing it to expire. We shall see I suppose. :-\ I believe them to be compromisers, but their voice at this time is probably needed. As I said, we shall see. I personally made my mind up long ago on the 2nd Amendment.

PROVERBS CHAPTER 18 VERSE 6  ;)

That one doesn't fit the context of the thread, although there have been times it did. Just like Romans Chapter 1 verse 22.  ;)

Had I not become a life member well over 20 years ago when it only cost $150 to become a life member I'd not be a member today. I refuse to send them one red cent until LaPierre is gone and never fail to let anyone know that when the dicusssion turns to funds for them.

While I acknowledge some little good still comes from them I fear more bad than good does these days. Unlike many who strongly support them I feel they are hurting us more than helping us. If LaPierre was gone I think that could and likely would swiftly change. I see him as the single major problem there.

I don't totally disagree with you Bill, it is just that, at this point I see little else to help in the way we need it. I don't trust them either, and I believe they are an organization that has expanded in many WRONG DIRECTIONS. Instead of trying to sell me insurance they should be using the money they are spending in a TOO BIG staff, and HUNTING TRIPS, and ADVERTISEMENTS FOR non-2nd Amendment extras, instead on fighting anti-2nd Amendment groups.
They have become a BUSINESS oriented toward making money, and growing staff positions, much like the government. HOWEVER, I will give them one more subscription and see what happens. We shall see.

In my eyes they like the North American Hunting Club (another I'm a life member of from long ago and I'd not be a member of otherwise) have become a self perpetuating organization/business whose primary interest is in keeping the jobs of the folks employed by it and giving them huge salaries. They have lost sight of the goals of the organization as founded and the best interests of the members who support them. Therefore I no longer support them.

I have supported them but have never joined.
