That means that if your load calls for 35 grains, you will get 200 loads out of 1 lbs of powder. If your final cost per pound of powder with tax is $24.00 (an average) it will cost you 12 cents per round for the powder.
Hope this helps.

7,000 although I sometimes get considerably less when relying on the sound of those grains hitting the leaves while filling the measure at the black powder candle shoots.

It does kinda sound like a light rain, doesn't it.....
I never weighed a black powder charge thrown from a flask, but I did find that a .444 case made a good powder measure, and wasn't too upset if I lost one...

well now this brings up another question.ive always measure black powder by grains in volume but smokeless but grains by weight.is a grain of black masured by volume close to a grain of black measured by weight?just curious.

If your measure is accurate it should be very close, but black powder is very forgiving and usually a difference of a few grains won't affect accuracy, especially with open sights...
btw...Do you know what this weight (grain) is based on???

The powder granules are NOT grains. DO NOT count the powder granules and assume you have X # of grains of powder. Grains is a weight or a volume, depending on which of the old loading references you are reading. I have had to explain more than once that those little granules of powder are not "grains" of powder.
Have fun.......oh, if you do count the granules in a pound of 231 or AA#9, please let me know how many there are..

These granulated grains are so interesting though!
I think that if they are cut wrong (read too fine of a granule) it can be reason enough to cause a recall (read high pressure) even though the weight in grains is the same?
Yes, this is a question on my part and up for debate.
