Savage Model 11 question
« on: December 11, 2008, 11:42:50 AM »
Howdy! I just traded for a slightly used synthetic stocked m-11 in .308 Winchester.  This gun does NOT have the accutrigger but has the newer rounded rear receiver and the newer center feed bottom latch magazine. The serial number is G796xxx. I'm a little curious as all I have been able to find out about this gun says it is a later model, say post 2006, yet it doen't have the accutrigger. Are some still being made with the old style trigger? It also says "Model 11 308 WIN" on the barrel, no "G" or "F" suffix. Lastly, what is the differance in the model 10 and the model 11? Thanks.

I just bought a model 11 in 243 two weeks ago without the accutrigger.I looked on the Savage website and they still show some without the accutrigger.

Some dealers do special runs on them and might have ordered them without it to keep the cost down. Without the accutrigger though you basically have a Stevens 200, just more expensive.

They dont put the G or F suffix on the barrel, and the G in the serial number doesnt mean nothing. I've heard some people say the G in the serial number means it is a large shank barrel, but that is incorrect.

It was probably just a special order run by Walmart or Dicks sporting goods, or someone like that. Most likely a package gun with the cheap scope. Thats my guess anyway.

pdog nailed it I think.  There is no functional difference between the 10 and 11.
