K98 German Mauser
« on: December 12, 2008, 02:35:19 AM »
Next up is my k-98 Mauser. It's a Russian capture so it's not a hugely valuable collecters item but still a nice looking rifle. This rifle was made in 1939 at the Mauser Borsigwalde plant in Berlin. Factory code 243.

Yeah, not hugely collectable so........you should sell/give itt o me and find a more collectible one ;D

That is a BEAUTY!  Collectible????  huh???  RC's have that "proven" theory as well you know.  My KUDO's on a beautiful K98.  I view this much as I do a "refurb" from any other option of rifles.  It is refurbed.....just by the Russians.

Better check out you M39....

Good looking rifle. I bought one just like this one about 25 years ago from a drunk guy.He wanted more beer and sol it to me for 5 dollars.About a year after that I had the bolt altered (bent down to the side) and the safety changed. I also had it drilled and tapped for a scope. Franklin's gun shop in Athens Georgia did the work. The guy that did it wanted to buy it. He said the gun was in the best shape he had ever seen. I still shoot this gun and it will shoot a 1.5 group at 200 yards. Best 5 bucks I ever spent.

Ah yes, Franklins... did they ever get their FFL back?  Are they still in business?

And some people say that nothing good ever comes from hanging out with people who drink excessively. LOL!! I'd love to encounter a deal like that.

Don't know if they did or not. A good friend of mine went to college up there and he would swing by weekly for reloading supplys or just to have a look. I haven't been there in many years myself but they sure used to have some good merchandise.

Tood 1700,  Here's my 98 similar to yours along with a Swedish 96 in 6.5x55.
I have a bunch of WW1 and 2 rifles and shoot them a lot.  Mostly with cast bullets.
That 96 is especially a sweet shooter.
