They can only propose changes. Any proposed changes must be voted on by the people and receive a super majority of the votes.Just think back to the equal rights amendment.

I have to agree with shootall on this one. By the time we'd get to vote on it, it will be too late. I think Obama is too smart for that. The majority in this country is too complacent and too uninformed to be counted on to do the right thing. They will vote for what they think will benefit them, before realizing they have given up democracy for socialism. (freedom for protection)

funshooter ,i also agree with you ,and remember we now have the ,Acorn Dept. of Voter Fraud , a new Department formed by the Obamas.
Last election the vote count didn't even make it across the Mississippi river before Obama won ,so they just stopped there it seemed like.
A true Constitutional Convention cant remove or change the Constitution as i have read it ,it can only add to the Amendments in a way that doesn't change their original intent.
Besides they had Mr. Beck on the Oreilly show last night and he came right out and said that America today is standing on the same ground it was in 1860.
Oreilly agreed , later Hannity also said that the statement seemed very true ,and Americans in the South and the west will never trust an Election ever again.
This seems to be an agreement with a lot of people today that normally would pick someone apart for makeing a statement like that.
Paul Harvey even said right after the Election, that the entire prossess would need to be thrown out and something far more fool proof would have to be done before this Country could ever feel confident about going to any polls again.
November 4th 2008 ruined this prossess forever , im afraid the next election may be done from the barrel of a gun ,and any Constitutional Conventions sole purpose is to eliminate the 2nd Amendment no matter what we are told.
In this time i Command ,That you take the Secular to Jerusalem .

It will most likely start before the next election.  If the dems move to have only the elected reps vote on the need for a CC then the common voter has already lost his/her vote to someone already bought and paid for, and that citizen is too stupid to understand what we stand to lose.

I told ya all before to gun up and stock up.  If ya think he is gonna wait you are wrong.  If you think ohio is gonna make a difference then you had best get your guns in working order now.  The only action that will force a CC out of the picture is the threat of force, which means you call your reps/senators now and let them know that if they vote for or favor a CC they and their families will be dragged from their offices and homes and sent packin'.

The only thing that politcians fear is the threat of force.  Once threatened they will do as they are told because they know they have been found out or discovered and know they are no longer safe.

Illinois is the perfect example with ny falling next in line - these states are so corrupt you simply cannot expect a serious effort to enact a CC that would maintain the Constitution as it is - all you can expect from corrupt politicians is for them to do what they have been bought and paid to do - and if taking your freedoms guarrantees their continued reign they will vote against your freedoms.

Do not expect to change anything from the bottom up, changes have to be made from the top down.  That means the use of a force of arms against sitting state governments in which the governors are forced out and the houses suspended for 3-6 months, then disbanded, until new elections held.  No sitting politicians would be allowed to run for general election for two cycles.  A interim governmental administrator would be appointed to administer state programs until the election and that is all he/she could do - no GD politicin'.

New representation standards would have to be established.  Not on the basis of district size or population but one per country - the voice of the smallest county would be as loud as that of the largest.  Sending a bunch of pols to take up office at the state capitol is pure pelosi politics; reduce that number to one elected rep to represent each county and return the vote to the common citizen - one vote per citizen and the winner is elected by popular vote.  Government should be re-designed to administer to the public, the public should not serve the political infrastructure with its labors and taxes.

This is hardly impossible and desparately necessary.  A small force of concerned, willing citizens could carry this action out.  Direction and leadership is needed, it can not break down to a farce.

One friend said it would be only those who have nothing to lose who would attempt such a thing.  I think we had best get our backsides in gear now because if we do not all of us will become those who have nothing to lose.  Forget city dwellers and party salivates - they are bought and sold.  Either we take action or we lose.

Read the Declaration of Independence.  It is as pertinent today as it was in the 1170s.

"When in the course of human events it becomes necessary....................".  The 'When' is now.

Well if it comes to a vote to delete the constitution, make sure you keep records of the people who have signs in their yards supporting the dismantling of our constitution. They are the enemy and in the revolution, go visit them in their homes and end their support permanently.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

torpedoman, not to argue, but you need to read the Patriot Act. The Constitution and Bill of Rights was gutted when GW Bush PUSHED it down Capitol Hill's throat. He also tried to make it permanent. He also stated he would sign the Clinton Assault Weapons ban into PERMANENT LAW, if Capitol Hill would resurrect it.

Dee ,a lot of people are seeing that GW brought a lot of this on us ,or he made laws that would allow it to happen.
His Daddy didn't help matters either.
