Sporster 17 break in?

Is break in helpful? How many rounds or polishing?
Never really had to ask this question before as I just loaded my 10/22 up and fired away at cans etc.
However with a single shot rifle firing a couple hundred rounds is more than I care to do
Suggestions?

Follow the breakin in the FAQ's or just take a patch and some JB polish in and out about 50 times then clean real good then shoot the L out of it might take a few rounds to foul to get it to come in every time you clean.I don't clean mine til the accuracy starts to go away and that usually after at least 100 or more rounds. I just hate the idea of trying to clean that little bore, much less polish it. Mine is on the way. I know it's going to be a pain.

I have a 17 cleaning rod, have to cut patches small enough.can only push them through, won't pull back. have'nt found a 17 jag with a slot yet. did find the PatchWorm, comes with patches, pulls through good and snug. patchworm.com cheap

I bought a 17 cleaning kit and everything was there. No different than a .22. Easy.
Usually, I shoot a new rifle about 20 times. If It behaves, I don't break it in, I just leave it alone.

I recommend a good cleaning before shooting, then decide from there. It is amazing the crud you can get out of a new barrel. I can't think chips and grit do that new bore any good. I tend to strip down the action and clean up that too, and stone off burrs etc. but that's the compulsive kind of guy I am.
