OT enough with the swampbaiting
« on: December 15, 2008, 10:19:11 AM »
Is anyone else tired of every topic becoming a Swampbaiting occasion. How does a topic about JC Higgins's Rifles become a Remington is best topic. If we all stop Baiting him, maybe he will stop taunting us. I have been guilty of trying to debate swampy but I quickly learned that it was a worthless attempt. A little Humor every now and then is funny but it is just ridiculous now.  Sorry, I just needed to vent.

I don't have any problem with swampman. Debating him is like debating a Chevy man or a Ford man.  My son was a GM man until he went work as an insurance adjuster. Now he realizes that there is really little difference between comparable vehicles because all manufacturers face the same set of problems and there are only a few rational solutions.  The more cosmetic the differences the deeper the passions.

Ron,
I agree. I have no problem with Swampman, I am just tired of openimg a thread only to find that it has become a silly pi**ing contest. The fact is that usually someone draws him into it.

Been trying to tell you guys almost forever it seems like to ignore him. Arguing with him is about like arguing with a telepone pole and accomplishes about the same result.

I've just discovered the ignore function and no longer quote Swampman because he will not appear on my screen. Thank you.

I think Swampy is a big boy and he is baiting us. Anyone with as strong opinions as he has and he lays them out without shrinking is just looking for a good argument. I have a buddy like that. You could tell him the earth is round and he'd come up with an argument about it. The man just likes a good argument and we shouldn't disappoint him.

You guys have it all wrong about Swampy, he/she is most likely a Female anti-hunter just trying to trick us into trying to kill Bambi with those inferior Remington rifles, every Savage owner knows they won't hit anything smaller than a dinner plate at 20 yards.  Now we are really having some fun!  Larry

No, no, I think I got it right, just about anyone could take a few hours off from watching the Soaps, research rifles on the internet, and decide that the brand with the most trouble with quality and accuracy in modern history is Remington.  Just a small jump from there to here to sell all the unsuspecting hunters on the notion that Big Green is the only game in town.  It's just amazing how clear things become after a few drinks!   ;) Larry

Maybe this thread will work a little differently than I planned. Maybe all of the trolling can be done in here and we can keep the rest of the post chum free. ;D

Tuna sink when shot, so make sure that you have a rope on his tail before you pull the trigger. Don't ask me how I know that>

actually, I have nothing against a remington just never owned their rifles. In a bolt gun I prefer to build my own. So far all on mauser actions. Also own a couple single shots.

Swampie just wants you to think that, I just have an image in my mind of Swampie sitting in front of the computer in a bath robe and curlers messing with all the hunters out here.  Larry

I've said the same thing.  If we all stop, then he won't have anything to spew forth about Remmy 700's.  But then, I just HAD to start something the other day.  I didn't really bait him or argue TOO much.  I just asked for facts and data.  It's sort of fun every once and a while...  as long as it doesn't go to far.

I don't have a brother.

I do have some Rems now and had some before. The only rifle that gave me fits was a Voere( spelling) which had a off center chamber( I think) and made reloading for it a nightmare and the presently owned Handi in 45-70 with that transfer bar/trigger work situation going on now.
Outstanding performance rifles for consistant groups, not in order were:

BAR in 338 Win
2 Rugers 77 one in 30-06 the other in .284 Win
Ruger# 1 in 375 H&H
Rem Mohawk in 308
Rem 788 in 308
Rem 788 in 223
Rem 760 Carbine in 30-06
Marlin 444
Marlin 336C in 35 Rem

Honorable mention goes to a Handi syn stock in  45-70 Govt ( not the one from above.)
What is the point of Life if you can't have fun.

Being a newb here I have only discussed one issue with Swampman in the "Remington Quality" thread. With that, he has strong opinions about the related safety issues inherent to that fire control system, with NOTHING to add that could substantiate his position with regard to the same....

I think in this area his position is a hard one to defend in this instance, and to be honest I almost feel sorry for him! Why would someone diminish their creditability to such a degree, or be willing to  intentionally perpetuate such a lie about the safety of a design that history itself has demonstrated to be potentially unsafe functionally for the application of its intended design limits in a field gun???

One must ask....Ignorance, or smart like a fox???
