1903 springfield rebarrel
« on: December 15, 2008, 06:23:50 PM »
I have a springfield rifle I would like to put a sporter barrel on. Anyone have a source where I can buy a commerical barrel ready to install. The gun was sporterized when I bought it, but I want better accuracy than the military barrel. Thanks

Probably what you will find are barrels that are ready except for being short chambered, the chamber will be left a little shallow to allow it to be reamed for proper head space.  Not having ever done done of these I am no expert however.  Larry
A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.

Short chambers are not a problem. My gunsmith can handle that. Cutting the slot is the problem. I had a 98 mauser he rebarreled to 25.06 and I love it, very accurate.
