It is definately Al Gore's fault.  Ought to keep the deer moving in the A.M.  They have gone nocturnal here already.  The rut is over.

I know, I have been trying to get outside to sand blast the PD rifle barrel and the 32-20 barrel, it is just too cold for anything right now.  Larry

My "outside" business has been only what has to be done, thankfully I have all of my shopping done, that cold wind is the real killer.

Yeah it's pretty chilly down here. I think it's probably only around 67 or so outside now at 11:30 PM. I'm sitting here with shorts and t-shirt on thinking of opening a window. Danged cold front I'll be glad when it moves on thru.

Bill, need to keep it quiet.  Its getting too crowded down this way already.  Although Tim might be a good neighbor, this is a public forum....

It's just global warming, get over it!!! ;D ;D  It rained here all weekend and turned everything into a foot of slush.  Then it cleared off Monday and the wind came up to 50 mph and Tuesday morning it was 5 below zero.  Got up this morning to 3 new inches of snow.

The deer are in for a hard time.  Two deer seasons over with, a crust on the snow the wolves and coyotes can run on and the deer can't.  Should be some fat predators around.  Time to drag out the Handis, .22-250 and the .357.  The .17HMR for night work.

2 degrees here this morning a little below average.  If this global warming doesn't slow down we're all going to freeze to death.

After two days below the freezing mark, we finally got into the upper 30s.  as soon as that happened, a dense fog rolled in.
The weather man says we'll be in the 70s by Saturday, just in time to drop back below freezing on Sunday.

As they say here in Texas....

That's a relief, I hate hot, cold is just a nuisance, I can always put more clothes on for the cold, but I can only do so much for hot, mostly just sweat a lot when it comes right down to it!! :-\

Quick,

My daughter and family lived in the great state of Washington for a while, and the wife and I went to visit.  We were advised to bring a light jacket or sweater, as it was apt to be chilly, (60 or so), much of the time.

That was the case the day we arrived, but a couple days late it got up to 93.  Felt fine to me, but most folks were about to die from the heat.  Few had air conditioning, and I think Walmart sold out of fans pretty fast.  The day we left it was back to about 60 degrees.

Quite frankly, there is nothing comfortable about extreme cold or heat, I'm just more used to the latter.

Stay close to the stove, it will warm up soon, or so says Al Gore.

Y'all need to come to Kentucky.  4 SEASONS!!  Snows a bit in winter, but never last long.  It stays around long enough to look pretty, then it melts.  We have a beautiful spring in spring, not during the summer like up in North Dakota (I lived there 2 years courtesy of the USAF).  Summer is hot, but only really hot for about 2 months.  Then we typically have a beautiful fall.  This year's was better than usual.

Hey guys & gals, if ya'll want to talk about crazy weather come to Louisiana. It's been raining pretty much the past 2 weeks, except for last Thursday when it snowed! There was snow as far south as New Orleans. This past Monday I went to work & the temp was about 65, by 11am it dropped to 38 with a 30mph North wind. Today it's foggy & suppose to warm up to 70. Maybe we'll see the Sun tomorrow & be back in the 20's this weekend. Last Sunday morning we had to run the heater, but by 3pm we had the a/c on. This will continue until March or April, then we get hurricane season from June to November. After that winter again and through all this it doesn't matter if it's 30 or 110 we always have humidity.

The good thing is that through all this my Handi has never failed me. My wife had her 1st kill with her Handi 7mm-08 last week. A 225lb wild hog at about 120yds. My 444 took another deer the same day, but this time a nice 6pt. For those who read my last post, yes, Socks was with me again. He spotted the deer about 100yds out. It think he really enjoys deer hunting, when we get the Handies out he runs to the door.

In case I don't get post it later, I would like wish everyone a Merry Christmas & Happy New Years. Please remember our military people who are away from home this Holiday Season & their families.

I would like to add my Merry CHRISTmas to all as well. Here on sunny Cape Cod we are expecting 8" to 12" of snow tomorrow. It was below freezing this morning but I will take that to heat ANY day. I have been to Florida, spent a Christmas in California, and hunted in the heat of SW Texas and prefer the cool weather, 4 seasons actually. I have hunted coyotes in -17 degrees with a 40 mph wind in Maine and preferred that to hog hunting (with my longbow) in Texas when it was 110 degrees during the hottest part of the day. That was unusual they told us, we were told it would be about 60 degrees at night (we camped out on the open ground during the hunt). In truth, IIRC it got down to about 93 degrees during the coolest part of the night. It was tough to gut the hogs, fill them with ice and get them to the cooler in the back of a pick up fast enough..

Yep, algore and global warming, were all going to freeze to death over it. The strange part was just 2 days ago there was some raving maniac liberal on the radio saying how all this cooling and cold weather was proof that algore was correct about global warming. Sure, and nobama was born in the states and was a legal candidate for President as well....sure....<><....:(

Hummingbirds are tough little guys, the only way to get em to leave is remove the feeder, most people pull em in October if they aren't prepared to feed them thru the winter, we feed em year round, we have at least three still here, but with this colder weather, keeping the sugar water in the feeder from freezing at night isn't easy, I'm at a 1:3 ratio and it still slushes up real heavy when it gets in the low 20s, got some 1:2 mixed for tomorrow night.
