Rode Some Today
« on: December 17, 2008, 10:48:19 AM »
It got up to about 70 degrees so I got off work a little early and rode a while.  I crossed over to Santa Rosa Island and rode senic 399 towards Pensacola.  It has been closed since Ivan.  I went past the Road Closed signs and rode untill the sand over the road was too deep.  I probably saw 20 other riders.  I guess everyone else had the same idea.  I just wanted to get my oil good and hot, and the battery charged.  After Christmas I need to get some oil and a filter and do my 1000 mile check-up.  I love my XL-1200N!

High here in Sooner land was 36 since Sunday. No matter either the starter or the switch have gone out on the Harley  and the Yamaha has a front tire I don't trust. Damn cold weather and it gets dark at 5:30 before I can change out of the work clothes.
Deer hunting is mostly fun then you shoot one and it turns to work.

Swampman...I think that it is Illegal to ride beyond those road closed signs...could be hazardous you know then the safety police would come and get you ;)
Dont pay any attentiion to me as I am just jealous and under the same 18degree weather & the pending ice storm that GRIMJIM is. I am not really jealous come to think about it as it is excellent Coyote hunting weather ;D

I will go ice fishing this weekend and not ride my Harley. The ice fishing is good now. Ice is a foot deep in places, nice.

GRIM;
        Same here - Cold enough that we're having a rough time with the trucks, and it aint even winter yet.
 Swamp' and 'Law; Good for you guys down south - being able to run year round, and not having to "winterize". Brother in law is down in Flordia somewhere, and whenever the weather is really bad here, he always has to call to tell us he is out on the bike, or fishing with his buddies, etc. etc. You know.
   Just two more days, and then the next two weeks off. Home all thru the holidays and going to change out the bars on OLs Springer - 16s are too high for her, and we figure 12s will be about right, and we should be able to deal with the slack in the cables and wires without much trouble or changing them too. Foot controls already moved back to stock, and a close Corbin Gunfighter but "still not quite right".
  Got a old Lefever to work on also, plenty of fire wood, freezer's full, and haven't done any serious cyote hunting yet. OL an me both home and couped up for two weeks - will need to get out a few times so's we don't kill each other. Maybe winter aint so bad.
 Well, guess I flapped long enough - getting time to head over to the shop. Also a good time to tell you all Merry Christmas, and hoping this finds everyone well. And to keep Amigo in our thoughts - last I heard from him was over a week ago and he was ready to head out for Alaska.
                                   Have a good one guys;
